At the I/O Developers Conference, Google announced that Chrome will introduce two privacy and security features. One is called same-site cookies, another anti-fingerprinting protection. Same-site cookies are based on the IETF standard that Chrome and Mozilla developers have spent more than three years developing.

All old cookies that do not have the SameSite property set will be automatically categorized as defaults and will be treated as cross-site cookies by the browser.

Anti-fingerprinting protection prevents online advertisers (non-Google) from abusing user fingerprint technology to track users.
