Facebook Messenger returning to the main Facebook app

Facebook is bringing back its messenger to its mobile app. According to a report, app researcher Jane Manchun Wong has spotted this feature in the main app of Facebook. Just now, the chat button on Facebook is a shortcut to the Messenger app, which is using 1.3 billion users. If Messenger is not downloaded in your phone, after tapping on the chat on Facebook, you will be redirected to Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Messenger was first released as a standalone app back in 2011, and in 2014 Facebook removed its functionality from its eponymous app. Half a decade later, as Facebook prepares to integrate its messaging services across Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, the functionality appears to be returning.

According to the report, Facebook's Messenger app icon will remain the same. By clicking on it you will not be redirected to the Messenger app. Rather it will open Facebook chat option.
