Google recently sent ‘thanks’ tweet to Gmail users for hitting a monumental milestone. The company’s Gmail service now boasts of 1.5 billion users and Google took to Twitter to thank users of the same. “1.5 billion users and counting. Thank you ?? ? https://goo.gl/imLY3V,” goes the tweet.

This is surely a big growth for the e-mail service that touched 1 billion users milestone in February 2016. This means a growth of almost 50% in the past three years. As during parent company Alphabet’s earnings call in February 2016, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that as of this month, Gmail officially has one billion monthly active users. This was the last time that Google gave us an update about user numbers.

Earlier this year, Google rolled out one of its biggest redesign to Gmail. Announced in April 2018, the transition was long-drawn and extended till almost last month. Here’s a quick rundown of the new Gmail features:

* Organize emails from your inbox: When you point to messages in your inbox, you can quickly take action without opening them. These actions include — Archive, Delete, Mark as unread, Unread or read Read, and Snooze.

* Respond to emails with Smart Reply suggestions: Quickly reply to emails using phrases that’ll show up based on the message you’ve received. Learn how to use Smart Reply suggestions.

* Customize your inbox view: Expand or shrink your inbox. Change how spacious or compact you want your inbox view.

* Show or hide the menu: To make room for previewing your email, you can expand or shrink your inbox view by clicking Menu.

* View Calendar, Tasks, Keep & Add-ons: You can now use Google Calendar, Keep, Tasks, and Add-ons while in Gmail.

* Send emails and attachments confidentially: Turn on Confidential mode to protect sensitive messages and documents. You can now: Set an expiration date, require a passcode; and prevent forwarding, downloading, copying, and pasting.
